#Winning

As I write a lot of my blogs I look back at the process of revelation I am having on where I am at and who God is in the midst of my brokenness.

I write because I process out loud. Im a verbal thinker. My hope in being transparent about were I am/was and what Ive gone through is that others would be encouraged, enlightened and maybe entertained if not intrigued.

I feel as if the last few blogs have been pretty heavy and as I was thinking about them I came to a realization. My blogs illustrate a day to day, week to week or even month to month aspect of personal reflection and revelation. However they are pixels in a greater picture. Like the old adage you cant see the forest beyond the tree (I think thats how it goes). These personal narratives are pieces that fall under the umbrella of us winning.

These aren’t sad woe is me moments they are honest transparent moments intertwined in the mosaic that is our life story of triumph and concurring.

Our story is not one of pity, anger or bitterness but of triumph.

Its important for people to understand that. If you were to read just the articles themselves without the overarching theme that we are triumphant then it can and will be a tad eeyore’ish (aka the donkey from Winnie the Pooh).

It often feels as if we just keep getting hit, often times from all sides.

For instance last Christmas was the first time we were not dealing with surgeries or recovery with Judah. We were also looking at this possibly being the first year with no surgery. However this week we will be taking Judah in for a CT scan because his last skull reconstruction seems to have left a small hole in his skull. They need to make sure the brain is not bulging through and after the CT reveals the state of things, they will operate.

What was supposed to be a year of surgery free is now becoming another skull reconstruction. Not as intense as the last but none the less still invasive.

When we share that we share it with the knowledge and hope that others will join us in prayer. Before Judah was born there was a community of people from 7 countries praying for Judah. Its been amazing to see the impact of a  2 year old boy on so many people.

We post our trials and triumphs in hopes that people will be encouraged and for those that support us in prayer.

But none of this stops our triumph or victory. The Word tells us that we are more than conquerors. It tells us that we have been given the victory.

Even though there are days we don’t feel like we’ve won anything other than more storms, we remind ourselves of the Word.

You see we win and are winning because we have not let our situations deter us from God. Some days we feel like Job loosing it all and others we feel like Abraham and God is telling us to sacrifice what is dearest to us.

Regardless the once verse that has been the verse we declare for ourselves and our family is…

Romans 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

You see when we surrendered our lives and our kids to the Lord we won. Now we can choose to walk in defeat even though we have been given the victory, but in the end it doesn’t change what we have been given through Christ, the victory.

What most people do is remind themselves of these verses and act like life will be easy peasy. And the moment something hits they freak out. We have done that multiple times.

However you cant be victorious or a conqueror without something to conqueror. You will face hardship, just like we have and you will win if you choose to walk in the knowledge of who you truly are and not what your trials are.

Another verse that has been central to us winning is…

2 Corinthians 10:5

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ

You see you have a choice when you face a trial. Let it consume your every thought or let Gods word consume your every thought. We aren’t pro’s at this by any means however we rely on the knowledge of this word to spur us to take action and remind our selves that ALL THINGS work together.

So in the end we have chosen and not all the time but as we grow more and more we are choosing to walk as winners and not as whiners.

This is the true theme of our story. Look at what we have overcome and the enemy still couldn’t hold us down. It may take us a few tries, it may take some time but we are winners and we are winning!!

Keep this perspective as your read my blog because this is the perspective from which I write.

More importantly develop this perspective for yourselves as you traverse life. Its all about what you choose Gods way or your way. From personal experience, my way sucks but Gods way has kept us and will keep us #WINNING
